Ernest Hamilton founded Eastern Canada's first full-time yacht brokerage twenty years ago when he could not find such a service available while looking for a larger boat.

He grew up around boats, his parents always having kept large power craft, and in 1976-7 he took time off from college to make a 14 month, 7000 mile cruise to Florida and the Bahamas in a Paceship 23. He has since sailed extensively (mostly single-handling) in his current yacht, the beautiful Glooscap II, which is a 33' stretched version of John Hanna's famous double ended Tahiti Ketch.

Ernest has sold hundreds of boats in recent years, and this experience combined with his first hand knowledge of sailing the Alantic coast make him a valuable commodity in Eastern Canada. He does not sell new boats, so has a vested interest only in selling brokerage boats, unlike many boat dealers who have no choice but to concentrate on boats they own.

Maritime Ship & Yacht Brokers works in close association with a Nova Scotia Yacht Broker, and between them they usually have between 100 and 150 sail and power boats listed for sale. In addition Ernest co-brokers deals on boats as far away as Florida for local buyers, and provides much needed expertise in dealing with distant dealers.
