Buying Advice

Buying a sailboat is an emotional experience. Clearly they are objects of beauty and the purchase is rarely a necessity. We purchase boats because they are something that we love. Like any new love we often don't see the flaws and when we do, it's far too late.

The best advice we have, therefore, is to make sure you take your time when viewing any prospective purchase and whenever possible seek an objective opinion. We recommend that, where possible, you have a skilled surveyer view the boat before purchase. A good survey may cost several hundred dollars but it may save you thousands and a lot of wasted time. Remember, there has never been and will never be a perfect sailboat.

Aside from this, in order to find the best buy you will always be better off looking in a larger market area. The larger the market area, the larger number of boats that will meet your requirements. Its always better to have choice. This is what the SailBoat Market is all about.

In the future we will be providing more useful information for buyers in this space. Look for inside information about what to look for in a used boat, where to get a survey done, how to arrange for transportation, etc.

At The SailBoat Market, we aim to be the one place to buy or sell a boat, and we want to make it as easy as possible for boat buyers to find what they are looking for.
